  1. Barred Antshrike

    Barred Antshrike

This bird was seen in the Yucatan in February of this year. Our guide had been "chasing" this species for some time to get a good picture. Usually they are near the ground and deep in the brush. He decided to leave his camera in the car for this short walk and up popped this bird...

    Barred Antshrike

This fella showed up every morning at around 07.00 at the moth light of Casa Maria - it never left the sanctuary of its fav bush and always disapeared after 5 minutes or so. For a single day only a female made an appearance. A really striking bird

    Barred Antshrike

This male Antshrike was moving around in the low undergrowth, but lucky for me he jumped into an area in the middle of it all that gave me a chance to get a shot. He had just picked up this bug that has an orange underbelly, but it's back is black and white, which makes it blend a bit with the bird.
