    The Bare-shanked Screech Owl is a common owl in highland habitats of Costa Rica and western Panama. It seems to be most common at elevations of 2,000 plus meters. This bird treated us to prolonged, fantastic views as 4 or 5 others called near and far.

    This Snowy Owl seems to be looking straight at us. I kind of felt like a mouse for a moment. He was actually looking at some crows that were flying directly in back of me while I was making this image. The last of these guys are now slowly heading back to their arctic homeland.
