    Don't knock it!

Ok, so it's a small meal, but it's tasty and packed with protein. My kids aren't starving, so just take your photos and move on so I can feed them this and head back out for more. We didn't see only Mipits. There were some Bluethroat also, and this male posed particularly close and out in the...

    A view from the rear

After having our fill of the first Bluethroat, we went through the railway tunnel heading back to the car when we saw some more. We got through a gate into the field and sat quiet - after a few minutes they came back into view by a wee copse. Most of them were really pretty active but I...

    Lifer two and a half

.... why a half, well, the White Wagtail was a sort of half tick as we get the Pied subspecies here, so how do you count it LOL Also..... many years ago on Fair Isle, I'd seen a White-spotted Bluethroat, but in hand and I made a right mess of the pictures! Did a bit better with this one. It...

I was waiting for a Water Rail to appear from the reedbeds, when this pretty Bluethroat landed just in front of the car for a few photos. In the same small pool there were two Kingfishers, several Common Sandpipers, Chiffchaff, Meadow Pipits with Sandwich Terns always in view. What a great day...

    Bluethroat for Marmot

This is as an answer to a request. Difficult light and high iso affects image quality, but aside from technical issues I think the image depicts the bird well. This is not the textbook position of the bird in the image, but I felt the blue sky had to be there somehow.
