Often overlooked, which is a shame as they're fascinating to watch and quite challenging to get decent photos of.
  6. Young Jack

    Young Jack

It was great to see the Jackdaws bring their young to our little urban jungle this year, a really nice first for us. It doesn't take long for em to learn the best perches to get at the food, and its great that they are brave enough knock the Feral Pigs from the food trays.

Again, taken by my wife Ann-Christine, she sadly cut the tail off, but amazing picture, all the same, for such a cheap camera!
  8. Full Frame Jackdaw

    Full Frame Jackdaw

Went for a beach walk yesterday, got myself well positioned amongst the rocks below where the Kestrels hunt low over the undercliff. Waited over an hour, one showed, and just as it got close someone came along with a barking dog and off the Kessie went. Waited another half hour in case it came...

Well Peeps, The Pirate Day record now belongs to Hastings, we beat the existing record easily. The record for the most pirates in one place was 1,670, but yesterday we managed 6,166, a great day it was too. There were still some Ooh Aars out in the street at almost...

    Jackdaw

Jackdaws are very shy locally, so I was surprised when this one landed in front of me, took one look and was away in a flash!

    Jackdaw at 40mm

Its amazing how tame these birds are at seaside resorts - I only had my landscape lens but could not resist a pop at this guy.

Jackdaw in the garden, soaked to the core, it dont look best pleased, does it?

I don't often do this, but here is a closer crop of yesterday's image.
  21. Juve Jack

    Juve Jack

Although we get Jacks in our garden all the time, they never bring the juves along. Went to Pett Pools yesterday, and had a walk into Toot Rock, where there were several juves.

    Monedula

    And my favourite bird.

A couple of these have been getting rid of around four small fatballs a day from my feeder so I though I may as well get a shot out of them LOL

    Ready for take-off

I think this is one of the jackdaws that nests every year in the neighbors' chimney. I passed him on my way home from my patience-training hike last Sunday and when he #or is it she?# took off he swept low over the rooftops from the park towards my house in the direction of the neighbors just...
