There was now a Galah in a dead tree on the dam, seems to be talking to himself! The light was beginning to go now, as you can see. So it was time to return to Cunnamulla, my base for the next two nights. Hans and Judy had accommodation at Bowra, but they were full for my first two days... I...

... well that's the overall impression of what you see with these guys. Really quite pretty and seem to be everywhere (at least where there's some water). Now for a confession... I had pronounciation problems with both birds and places and this was one of them. It's not Gala (as in the...

    Galahs Pole Dancing

These galahs were having a lot of fun around the pole. Hard to choose a best shot, but I like this one. One of the first shots taken with my very first Canon L series lens (previously only used very cheap lenses).

At one of our last stops that day, somewhere along the road as we looped around the outskirts of Sydney, I finally saw my first Galah, Hurrah! :D

Hi all, thought this should be an SF, not often do you see birds gargling :) Wednesday next week is my big day (hip-replacement) so I probably won't be posting for some time. Thank you to everyone who shares their wonderful images and makes comments, it makes life so much more inviting! Nora

This picture is taken while walking with the pram. This bird is sitting on a hollow stump that is used as a nest. It is a bit unfortunate surrounding tree trunks have almost same colour as bird's wings, but pink breast looks very bright!

    Galah

Galah - also known as the rose-breasted cockatoo for obvious reasons. This very distinctive bird inhabits most of Australia. They mostly forage for food on foot in open fields. They do not live in forests although they spend much of the day sheltering from heat in the foliage of trees and...

    Galah flock on my footpath

A small flock of galahs have found something tasty on my footpath. A sole crested pigeon also chomps away. I had called them topknot pigeons, until recently being corrected by somebody.

    Baby Galah

G'day, this baby galah climbed the fence near my camp site. I whistled and it chirped. The parents appeared and attempted to encourage it to fly. It would look at me and at them, but did not budge. When it got dark, I feared that it might tumble back into the paddock and be trampled by a herd of...
