  9. Coal Tit on peanut feeder

    Coal Tit on peanut feeder

Our Coal Tits seem to prefer feeding from the bottom of the feeder, while Sparrows climb all over it. Also Coat Tits seem to be far more cautious than Sparrows as the Coal Tits are always looking around before and during feeding
  10. Wood Pigeon feeding on Rowan berries

Wood Pigeon feeding on Rowan berries

This Wood Pigeon had finally succeeded in getting at the berries on the Rowan tree in the garden. Not many birds seem to be attracted to these lightly coloured berries apart from the pigeons and starlings. A 50% crop from a full frame shot.

    Feeding time

If you look carefully you should see a rather large fish. Some years ago now, the RSPB staff erected a couple of telegraph poles for just this purpose. Prior to that you couldn't really see where they went to feed ... on a tree somewhere probably. They took to these poles immediately. It...

    Baby wanting fed

Well a few shots in my garden testing out my new Canon 100-400 F5.6 Mark ii. All I can say is wow! I recently bought the Sigma 100-400 F6.3 which I have to say is a great lens and very sharp. But for me the Canon focuses fast, grabs it straight away and is super, super sharp. So the Sigma...

The migrating birds were attracted to the dogwood berries. Many deletes before I got the berry in the beak. Thrush was a bit skittish.
