This crazy BHG was trying to get this huge bit of reed back to it's nest I guess

We had a terrific day birding on Tuesday, saw over 40 species, including the Little Bittern, but also the Black Headed Gull which were out in their hundreds.
Always makes me chuckle to see these birds carrying oversize nest material, kind on makes me think that when its back to the nest the workmate and saw comes out to size to fit. Full image this stick is about 3 times the length of the gull

I had a very lovely visit to Vane Farm with two keen young birders back in the summer of 2006.
From one of the hides we spotted this Black-headed Gull on the far side of the loch. It was having a bit of a preen.

Fifteen years ago, when you arrived at Kinnordy you were deafened by the noise of the Black-headed Gulls. It was a major breeding place for them. Then something happened (I think to the water levels) and they all deserted, though every year a few would return but no eggs were laid.
