    The one thing that bothers me with this ID is the ears or lack of ears. It was out hunting with its mother who I just got a glimpse of so I could not check the ears.

    On a night drive in Kruger we saw this Owl in the road, it flew off as we approached but settled on a nearby branch. I got a few shots off with manual focus and this was the best. When it flew off it was absolutely silent. ISO 800, 170mm, f2.8, 1/60 sec, pop up flash.

    These birds were so well camouflaged that they did not even try to hide themselves. I drove past and only noticed them when one moved his head slightly and opened his eyes. The photo is cropped and the birds were relatively small in relation to the tree.

    I spotted this fellow on the ledge of the hotel building and managed to get quite close. After a while he flew away and I followed him into the forest where he sat perched for another 3-4 hours. This all happened between noon and 4pm!
