    One of the two common shrike species which visit singapore. The other being the Tiger Shrike. It's rather a noisy bird which feeds on insects taken from the ground.

    To-day when i walked in to my patch this one saw me and started a racket which could be heard miles around-followed me and when i got the shot of the female Plaintive Cuckoo-it started up again.Then walked back and just before reaching my car -he was there posing every which way-so my friends...

    This seemed to be one of the most widespread birds on Luzon. We encountered them from 10 m to 2000 m in elevation, from in the middle of Manila to the thick forest by Taal Lake. Everywhere!
