Thanks to everyone for comments on the BT in flight: here's a heavy crop of one a bit further off, absorbed in vital feather maintenance. This was taken back in January, but the recent rain has replenished the rainwater pool on our little substation and the birds love it, especially in sunny...

This Blue Tit was difficult to photograph as it moved through the smaller branches of the silver birch, but as a parting gift it allowed this accidental flight shot. Not the highest quality, but it's Saturday! Thank you for your comments, stay safe and well in these troubled times. John

Finally, a wee Blue Tit, seemingly bowing thanks for the food.

Another shot of the individual posted on 13 January. The bird seems to be "leaf gleaning" ie meticulously picking small invertebrates from the undersides of leaves. If viewed in full resolution, what looks like a tiny green food item can be seen at the tip of the bill. Thank you for your...

A very restless bird, disappearing and reappearing in the foliage. It seemed to be "gleaning" ie picking invertebrates from the underside of leaves. Thank you for your comments, stay safe and well. John

One of my favorite garden guests - always so cute, so colourful, and often quite acrobatic.

Or "oh dear, little one, such a dirty face." One of the few mixed-language phrases my brother and I heard often enough from our grandmother that we actually picked up a couple words of Yiddish and Russian. Those languages were otherwise only used to keep secrets from us, so we didn't pick them up.

Caught this wee Blue Tit on top of my feeder pole showing so clearly how they hold a seed between their toes to eat. TTTW

Five juvenile Blue Tits, can't remember for sure, but think this may be a bit of a record for my window feeders. This lot making use of all but the coconut shell, though that is popular usually as well. Within a week of this they'd all disappeared, probably out into the countryside. Middle end...
