lots of them came in the past two weeks along with the Cormorant, found about 10 of them on the ground, tried to get close and hid behind a little sand pile, but this one took off as soon as i started to take shots.
anyway managed some flight shots.

It was late afternoon and the sun was setting so the bird was actually lit from below.Normally when I capture this bird it looks black when the sun is above it.
Having seen the Black Kite, we stopped and watched it. We were quite close, so minimal cropping of these pics. It knew we were there, but its interest was elsewhere, namely the feast it was enjoying. We were not able to identify the victim, possibly a pigeon or noisy miner, but we watched for...
We recently spent 5 days camping at Mannum, on the banks of the River Murray. Having been out for the day, with not a lot of success, we drove back into town. We ended up in one of the back street and were surprises to see this Black Kite on the top of one of the power poles.
Many thanks for helping me to ID the two birds yesterday. These Black Kites are known to spread fires in the NT area, by picking up smouldering twigs and dropping them in an un-burnt area to get food such as insects etc.
