    Bat Hawk swallow whole, Borneo

I don't get to see Bat Hawk often here, no cave anywhere nearby. However, about a month ago, sighted 3 of them showing up and frequently perched on the same spot. More thrilled when one showed up and landed with a prey this morning, probably a fruit bat. Thought they only hunt at dusk but they...

Kostrzyn river valley Natura 2000 site (Poland), 21.09 (mostly birds of prey)

Habitat: river, meadows, forest 1. Not a kestrel, jizzwise. The lack of a prominent moustachial stripe (1.3) excludes the hobby and the peregrine. It flew high above the ground and made a few circles, so it was not a merlin. It had a brownish tinge on the upper wing feathers (1.4), so maybe it...

    Bat Hawk, Borneo

Two beautiful Bat Hawks (Macheiramphus alcinus) 食蝠鳶 perched on a high bold tree branch, resting and preening in early morning. The "white" thing on the left bird's bill is its own feather, probably stuck during preening.

Buzzard (13th of June, 2022, Amsterdam Netherlands)

Yesterday evening I saw this presumably Common Buzzard from far away deep into the huge restricted runway areas of Schiphol Airport (Amsterdam). In fact, it was so far away that it couldn't be seen by the naked eye. I only spotted it accidentally through my binos while following a Kestrel flying...

    Kestrel in the morning sun

Here's a lovely portrait of this beauty. I like this photo because he doesn't appear like a raptor at all. Peaceful like a drowsy budgie. Most in flight-shots convey quite a different impression.
  23. Peregrine

    Peregrine

Here's an example of urban wildlife: a small town peregrine. The peregrine is not very common in Germany. I didn't have much time today, so I'll go back to the place and wait for the peregrine to come a bit closer.
