    On my final morning at Krung Ching Waterfall substation at Khao Luang National Park in southern Thailand, I was treated to a couple of barbets feeding all of 3 metres from my face. Great reward after a frustrating morning of heavy fog - this is the female.

    Spotted this one close to its nest in the Hotel Grounds. They nest if holes in trees which are tiny. Spent a lovely few hours watching them come and go.

    After a busy morning of birding, friends and I relaxed at the Boonsong Lexagul camp (named after the legendary Thai conversationalist). After a quiet start at this location, a pair of Green-eared Barbets came along and kept us interesting for several minutes before they flew away.

    This bird is variously described as Little, Blue-eared and Yellow-eared Barbet depending on which subspecies it is lumped with. The Blue-eared (P. cycantis) and Black-eared (P. duvaucelii) has red around the face but the subspecies (Psilopogon australis) on Java and Bali has yellow.
