  1. My Honeyeater baby

    My Honeyeater baby

Red Wattlebird (juvenile) At dawn yesterday morning, my son found this little one - and came and fetched me because he wasn't sure what to do. It was huddled in a gutter at the edge of a car park, cheeping sadly - all alone - in the middle of a shopping centre, where soon the Saturday morning...

    Another new face...

Red Wattlebird (juvenile). The red Wattlebird pair who feed on my verandah brought out two fledglings yesterday, and immediately spent several hours teaching them to drink fruit juice from the glasses I leave for them in the hanging planters. Here is one of the babies, checking out the odd...

    Red Wattlebird (Juvenile)

I have posted a couple of adults recently so though I would share this one. Afer following some cockatoos around for a while I was heading back to the car and came across an adult and juvenile. The adult left but junior waited until I managed shot. Very obliging I thought.
  8. Young vocalist

    Young vocalist

The same immature red-wattlebird that I shot on dusk the other night. Just a clearer shot of a more normal pose when in song. Mind you I don't think their song is nice but quite harsh.
  9. Bend and Stretch

    Bend and Stretch

This immature Red Wattlebird sure was making a noise singing it's heart out. They do bend back alot at the peak of their song lol. It's also Australia's largest Honeyeater.

    Camouflaged

There were about four of them but even though they are quite large (32-36cm) they were very difficult to see in the dense Banksia trees.
