Merle d'Amérique. I just looked at my posts in this gallery and found that I left out one of the most abondant birds around here. This singing male was taken last Sunday in an apple orchard.
  2. AMERICAN ROBIN

    AMERICAN ROBIN

We have a nesting pair in our yard. This is one of them foraging for bugs and worms. I can look out of a window at the back of the house and see their nest in a small Hemlock tree. The female has laid her eggs and is on the nest most of the time.

    Bathtime

A decent-sized flock of robins was taking it in turns to bathe in this puddle. They're fun to watch, splashing around.

They make beautiful sounds and they are big compare to the European robin. Not as glamorous but nothing to ignore either.

American Robin (Turdus migratorius achrusterus) Female. She was part of a flock that numbered close to one hundred birds. She got up and flew past me and landed about 30 ft away. The second she landed she nestled down into the grass like she was sitting on eggs. Maybe she thought she was hiding...
