Pros
  • EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS
Cons
  • NONE
The clarity that has been achieved with these optics is pretty phenomenal. I recently used this spotting scope while shooting at 1000 yards and I was actually able to see the different tones layers of spray paint on the target. This was on a 30 degree with heat mirage to contend with. Very impressed with this Swarovski!

Pros
  • Clear picture, light weight, smooth focus
Cons
Excellent quality scope. Light weight, great color, sharp clear image. The helical ring focus is very ergonomic and precise. This scope provides for a great viewing experience in a lightweight package. I did find it difficult to find the proper eye placement above 50X. Great scope for birding or hiking.

Pros
  • very sharp, light, compact, good price
Cons
I bought this scope new in 2015 with the 25-50x wide angle eye piece.
This is a brilliant little scope with very good sharpness and resolution. At 25x the sharpness is striking. The view is very comfortable with very good edge to edge sharpness.

It has a very smooth and precise focuser, as good as my old EDIII, and even has the same feel to it. It also works perfect with thick gloves on, and so does the zoom ring on the eye piece.
Overall image quality is very good between 25-40x. At 50x the brightness and contrast decreases visible, but still it's quite sharp and can be usable in some situations.
Before I bought this scope I was a bit worried about CA, but in the field I have absolutely nothing to complain about (though, under lab-conditions it's not completely free from CA).
The eye piece works fine for me at 25-30x (I use glasses) and it seems to fit me better than the ATX eye piece that is wider. At higher mag the 25-50x EP is a bit more sensitive to "kidney beaning" and finding the correct eye position takes some training.
Overall a very good scope for the money.

Pros
  • Absolutely Great piece of kit, light, great 25x50 lens.
Cons
  • New lens takes a bit of getting used to,as regards eye placement
I recently decided to upgrade my old kowa 614 scope. After a couple of years deliberating, and looking through other scopes.I found it very dificult to form a opinion of which scope combination was best. With all the considerations like size, weight, lens,HD,looks, age on the market, etc,One scope shone out,the swarovski, but comparing it with all the others, side by side, for any length of time was impossible. The leica looks great, has a stonking lens, and looked great through it,but i thought it just seemed to lack final clarity at 50x zoom, compared with the swarovski.[scopes viewed were leica apo 65hd,and swarovski stm 65hd].I really wanted the leica to stand out and grab me,but both scopes were excellant, and the swarovski deal till june 06,was the one i went for,and payed 1720,for a swarovski STM 65hd,with 25x50 lens, and swarovski case. The zoom really is superb,i recently compared it with the 20x60 lens, and there is no comparison, the 25x50 is WIDE!.This eyepiece took me some getting used to,to get my eye in,but it soon came good, and a dream to use.Downsides, well, the case is fiddley to get both ends off quickly,if not using the case lens cover, the rubber eyepiece cover on a string is a little loose on the lens. The scope sunshade is very difficult to pull out with the case on,and difficult to say the least, with it off.The screw which retains the body from turning through 360 deg, tends to work loose. These are all "picky" things, and after finding them out after purchase,i am glad they did not put me off purchasing this scope.

Pros
  • clear bright image, fantastic wide FOV (with 30x) hardwearing, The best small scope that you can buy
Cons
  • Can be a bit tricky to get the scope to 'snap' into focus though this is probably due to it being a new scope for me!
A truely fantastic peice of kit with some serious glass. if you do most of your birding on the move & not at the extremes of the day then you simply cant go wrong.

Pros
  • A compact telescope with great optics.
Cons
  • I prefer a small focussing wheel to a barrel focus. It's important to note that even with superb optics, a 65mm scope is a compromise, and it does suffer slightly in very dim conditions. If you are a really serious birder, go for the 80mm.

Pros
  • Fast, easy focus wheel, friendly on the hands (for those with arthritis). Lightweight to hike with on longer trips.
Cons
  • Price
The ATS-65 HD is excellent and with the slight arthritis in my hands, it made my decision making process easy. I tried out the Zeiss, Leica, and other amazing brands with their stiff dual focus wheels. They were all very sharp and bright. I loved the 80 HD for its added illumination that seemed to light up subjects when zoomed, but the extra bulk, weight, and price, scared me off. I am very pleased with my 65 HD.

Pros
  • Nice, bright, sharp image. Good field of view. Blissfully easy to focus.
Cons
  • Only price, but I guess you get what you pay for.
My first scope was a Kowa which was great as a first scope but the colour was a bit yellow. I upgraded to a Leica APO 62 Televid with 32xW eyepiece but just couldn\'t settle with it. I have a bit of joint trouble in my hands and found the small twin focus wheels just too fiddly and just couldn\'t seem to ever get my eye in the correct position at the eyepiece (tried both eyes).
My birding partner already had an ATS 65 HD + 20-60 eyepiece and I was constantly amazed whenever I used it - the ease of use was incredible, the immediate correct position for viewing and the wonderful large focus wheel caused me to always neglect my Leica. The ATS zoom eyepiece was so much brighter than my 32xW.
A birding holiday brought home to me how little I used my own scope so I admitted defeat and decided to change.
I had been advised that a Nikon Fieldscope would be worth trying, but was also told that the focus was stiffer than the Swarovski, so just made the decision to go with a scope I knew was comfortable and gave brilliant results.
I\'ve had my Swarovski over a month now and I am so pleased to have made the swap - I decided on a 30xW eyepiece as I\'m happy with that magnification and find it\'s everything I could possibly want in a scope - lightweight, incredibly easy to focus, well balanced and superb image quality.
Don\'t think I will ever need to change again!
