Linaria yemenensis

Identification

11–12 cm (4¼-4¾ in)

  • Greyish-brown overall plumage
  • Pale rump
  • Curved culmen on short bill

Distribution

Saudi Arabia and Yemen

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].
Formerly placed in genus Carduelis.

Habitat

Arid mountainous and submontane plateaux. Hillsides with boulders and rocky scree.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists mostly of seeds from low-growing plants, shrubs and bushes. Also grass and herb seeds.

Breeding

There may be two broods raised.
