There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- M. r. rufocrissalis:
- Sepik Mountains and central mountain ranges of New Guinea
- M. r. thomasi:
- Southern slopes of the eastern highlands of New Guinea
Habitat
Montane forests at lower and middle levels. Also gardens.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of insects, nectar and fruit.
