Identification
28–33 cm
- Bluish-grey head and breast (with a yellow tinge)
Distribution
Endemic to the Philippines.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- P. o. occipitalis:
- Lowland forests of northern and central Philippines
- P. o. incognitus:
- Mountains of Mindanao (south-eastern Philippines)
Habitat
Primary forests from lowland to around 1800 m.
Behaviour
Breeding
There is very little information, but eggs are thought to be laid in February.
