Male
• Dark purple to black body
• Eyes a lighter shade of yellow
• Bill and legs dark shade of brown
• White on wings
Female
• Upper part ash gray
• Tail and wings blackish
• White on wing edges
• Light colored narrow ring around eyes
Juvenile-Immature Male
Favors the female with full adult plumage not coming until 4, or more, molts.
Distribution
In South America found in coastal eastern Brazil (Paraíba to northern Rio de Janeiro)
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
• From the ocean to approximately 900 meters/2900 feet in elevation
• Shorter forests (8 meters/25 feet tall) in sandy areas of the coast
• Further north in forests of less density
• Thickly growing forests with higher humidity
• In less humid areas of Pernambuco and Alagoas 100 km/60, or more, inland

Diet
The diet includes fruit, insects, caterpillars, and flowers.
