Zosterops albogularis

Identification

14cm. Pale green head, olive green neck, white throat and belly, conspicious white eye ring. Sexes similar.

Distribution

Norfolk Island between New Caledonia and New Zealand. Very rare, possibly extinct.

Taxonomy

Habitat

Large forested area around Mount Pitt on Norfolk Island.

Behaviour

The diet includes fruits, berries, nectar, and insects.

Both sexes build a cup shaped nest. 2 eggs are laid and are incubated for 11 days. The young fledge after a further 11 days.
