Galapagos Islands, islands off Peru. Ranges at sea in eastern Pacific from Central America to Chile.


This is a polytypic species[1] consisting of 2 subspecies.


  • H. t. tethys:

Galapagos Islands (Pitt, Genovesa and Redonda)

  • H. t. kelsalli:

Islas Pescadores and San Gallan (off coast of Peru)
