Uluguru Bushshrike - BirdForum Opus

Malaconotus alius

Identification

Length 22-24 cm.

Black head, yellow under parts and olive upper parts make this bushshrike unmistakable.

Distribution

Uluguru Mountains, Tanzania.

Taxonomy

Monotypic.

Habitat

Montane forest.

Status

Rare. Classified as Critically Endangered in the 2008 IUCN Red List.1 Discovered in 1926.

Behaviour

Forages alone or in pairs, possibly joining mixed-species flocks. Feeds on arthropods.

Breeding behaviour unknown.
