Distribution
East Africa: found only in Udzungwa and Rubeho Mountains in Tanzania.
Taxonomy
Discovered in 1991.
Subspecies
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- X. u. undzungwensis: Udzungwa Partridge
- Southern Tanzania (Udzungwa Mountains)
- X. u. obscuratus: Rubeho Forest Partridge
- Southern Tanzania (Maf-wemiro forest in Rubeho highlands)
The two taxa are sometimes split by some authorities to Udzungwa and Rubeho Forest Partridge[2].
Habitat
Montane forests.
Behaviour
The diet includes beetles, ants and seeds.
