Identification

Distribution

Western Peru and extreme northern Chile.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.
Formerly considered conspecific with Band-winged Nightjar.

Habitat

Dry and shrubland.

Behaviour

Eats insects which are caught around light sources, or flycatching from e.g., roads.
