The APO Televid 62 is a well made lightweight scope.

The 16-48 zoom has a decent fov and provides a very useable view all the way up to 48x. On a very dull day at Welney it picked out the Purple Heron that others couldn\\\'t get. It was like turning on headlights!!

The 26ww is like moving 26 times closer to the birds. Colours are very natural.

The case is expensive but well made. The scope is unreservedly recommended and should be on anyones shortlist if they are after a top of the range 60mm scope.

Pros

  • Light weight
  • well built and optics to die for

Cons

  • I\\\'m trying very hard to think of one!! Well it could be cheaper!!

Leicaman's review

A very compact telescope that performs superbly. I've just bought one and took it out for a trial on a dull day and the images were very pleasing. It is much lighter that the APO 77 but the images are just as sharp. It shares the dual focussing contrls of its larger cousin but on my 62 scope they were stiffer than my 77.

The case is very good quality but is longer than the telescope so the front end is inside the case.

My only gripe is the front lens cap which is rubber and held in place by four lugs. I found it difficult to remove and, if you put a protective filter on the front of the scope, the lens cap won't fit because the lugs are too long. My advice is to discard it and get a cheap 62mm front lens cap from a photo shop.

Pros

  • Brilliant
  • natural colours and razor sharp image. Nice and light to carry.

Cons

  • Awful front lens cap.

Dougie's review

Absolutely super bit of kit, the image is bright, and quality and finish of this product is fantastic, only let down by the awful lens cap, why didn't Leica stick with the snap on type lens cap that they use on the 77!!!!

Pros

  • Superb optics
  • light weight

Cons

  • Lens cap

I had been looking at similar ED glass type scopes including Kowa, Opticron and Nikon until I had the luxury of testing this at Leighton Moss on a cold misty morning. To say it was staggering is an understatement. It completely out performed everything else including top of the range models from Zeiss and Swarovski. Despite the far from ideal conditions the image was simply stunning. Expensive for a small scope but worth every penny.

Pros

  • Awesome

Cons

  • Cost
