Identification
Grey-brown to olive-brown above spotted and streaked with buff and black. Throat whitish, grey breast spotted with white, remainder of underparts buff with indistinct blackish barring. Legs yellow.
Length 33cm.
Distribution
Central and southern Peru. Resident.
Taxonomy
This species is monotypic.[1]
Habitat
Scrub and open woodland, high altitude grassland and shrubland, pastureland and arable land habitats. It frequently feeds on Eggs and chicks have been collected in
Behaviour
Its diet includes tuber crops, especially potatoes.
Eggs and chicks have been noted in April, May and October.
