Four subspecies recognised:
- A. m. consobrina on Mohotane Island (Marquesas Islands)
- A. m. mendanae on Marquesas Islands (Hivaoa and Tahuata)
- A. m. fatuhivae on Fatuhiva Island (Marquesas Islands)
- A. m. dido on Uapou Island (Marquesas Islands)
Formerly considered conspecific with Northern Marquesan Reed Warbler under the name Marquesan Reed Warbler.
