Identification
Distribution
Mountains (Serra do Espinhaço) of central and southern Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Taxonomy
After the discovery of a population of Tapaculos in the region in 1989, they were thought to be Mouse-colored Tapaculos. However genetic research showed that this birds are a new and previously undescribed species.[1][2][3]
Monotypic.
Habitat
Moist forest at elevations corresponding to foothills to lower mountain. In the forest limited to dense undergrowth, often with bamboo.
Behaviour
Vocal. This and similar species are often very difficult to see.
