Andes of northern Peru to Bolivia, northwestern Argentina and northern Chile (and extreme southern Ecuador?).

Subspecies
Two subspecies are recognized[1].
- G. a. andina - Andes of Peru (and possibly extreme southern Ecuador), northern Chile (Tarapacá), Bolivia, and northwestern Argentina (south to Catamarca)
- G. a. innotata - Andes of northern Chile (Antofagasta)
