Identification
17 cm (6¾ in); as the name implies, a very plain greenbul
Distribution
Africa:
Western Africa: Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola and Zaire
Eastern Africa: South Sudan, South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania
African Islands: Gulf of Guinea Islands, Bioko (Fernando Po)
Taxonomy
Formerly placed in genus Andropadus.
Subspecies
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- E. c. leonina:
- Sierra Leone to central Ghana
- E. c. curvirostris:
- Southern Ghana east to southern South Sudan, Uganda, and western Kenya, south to northern Angola and central Democratic Republic of the Congo; Bioko
Habitat
Subtropical or tropical evergreen and semi-deciduous forests. Also gallery forests.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of fruit, seeds and snails.
