Overview

Just north of the Arctic Circle in the western part of northern Finland, Pisavaara is situated to the west of the Kemijoki River and consists of wooded hillsides and extensive peatbogs.

Notable Species

Breeding birds include Brambling, Siskin and Siberian Jay.

Willow Warbler, Siberian Tit, Siberian Jay, Brambling, Eurasian Siskin

Other Wildlife

The flora, especially that of the many stream-banks, is rich and varied and mammals include Masked Shrew and Wood Lemming.

Permission from the National Park Office is required to enter this strict reserve which can be reached from Pisa, 40km south-west of Rovaniemi.
