Identification
Overall purplish-brown plumage with dashes on the back of its neck and darker wing patterns with a narrow white edge along wing coverts. Notice the scaling on the side of the neck. Red feet.
Similar Species
Distribution
Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.
Taxonomy
This species has previously been placed in genus Columba.

Habitat
Woodland and forest to agricultural land.
Behaviour
Diet
Diet includes seeds and grain; they are ground feeders.[2]
Breeding
They build a nest from sticks and one egg is laid. Both parents incubate the egg. Once the egg has hatched, the chick is fed on crop milk and then regurgitated seeds.[2]
