5 inches in length. Plumage green, brown iris and legs, horn-coloured bill. Males have a blue eye line and yellow forehead and face, blue-grey neck and upper back, cobalt blue underwing coverts and lower back to rump. Male flanks and breast sides are grey. Females have emerald green feathers, turquoise rumps and blue colouration behind the eyes.

Only member of its genus occurring on the west side of the Andes.

Taxonomy

Most authorities consider it monotypic, however, some recognize both coelestis and lucida. In the past, Yellow-faced Parrotlet was included in Pacific Parrotlet as one additional subspecies.

Habitat

Forests and savanna.

Behaviour

They are known to eat seeds, buds, and flowers. Breeding information: 4-6 eggs are laid.

Voice is a twittering.
