Identification

Distribution

Endemic to New Guinea.

Taxonomy

Two subspecies recognized:

  • C. o. viridifrons in northeast New Guinea (Mountains of Vogelkop Peninsula)
  • C. o. obscura in Weyland, Snow and Sepik Mountains, New Guinea

Formerly placed in the genus Lichenostomus.

Habitat

Moist lowland forest and montanes.
