Identification

36-40 cm including the streamers or the tail-feathers.

Distribution

Island of Numfor in the Geelvink bay.

Taxonomy

Monotypic.

Habitat

Swampy forests

Status

Classified as Near Threatened in the 2008 IUCN Red List.1

Behaviour

It nests in termitaria.

Diet includes insects, crickets and spiders taken from the forest floor.
