- Malaconotus monteiri
Identification
Similar to the Grey-headed Bushshrike, but larger and heavier, dark grey eyes, yellow breast. The white of the lores extends to behind and below the eyes.
Distribution
Mount Cameroon and north-western Angola.
Taxonomy
Malaconotus monteiri has two subspecies:[2]
- M. m. perspicillatus
- Mount Cameroon
- M. m. monteiri
- Scarp forests of north-western Angola
Habitat
Mid-altitude and montane forest.
Status
Poorly known; relatively common only in Angolan scarp forest. Classified as Data Deficient in the 2010 IUCN Red List.[1]
Behaviour
Vocalisation
Haunting whistle similar to that of Grey-headed Bushshrike; also a bill-rattle.
