New Caledonia
Overview
The begin of the track to 1.200 m Mont Mou is a step sandy way ( very much and slippery if wet ) which is market with a sign "sentier". A few meters in direction of sanatory is a small parking place, near the small river bridge.
On the treck follow small rainforest area and after 30 minutes You will arrive open landscape with grass, small ferns and orchids ( e.g. Megastylis gigas ). Very impressive is also a fern Blechnum chaulidontum and a flower Xeremona moori.
Near peak follow moisture forest which interesting plants.
Birds
Notable Species
The birds are hard to find. Some Honeyeaters, New Caledonian Streaked Fantail or Green-backed White-eye. But go also from parking place to sanatory. It is a little bit more open bush and trees ( e.g. planted Araucaria ). In the morning I saw Notou and White-throated Pigeon.

Mont Mou is around 15 km from Tontouta in direction of Noumea. If You follow the street, up to mountains You will have 1 lane 1 temporary overtaking lane. At the highest point is only 1 lane. Now have have to turn left into the small street into the mountains in direction of sanatory.
