Identification
Chestnut maroon upperparts,dark brown underparts and pale yellowish bill diagnostic. Flight feathers and tail marked with indistinct pale bars. Male has red sides of neck and nape. Size-23cm.
Distribution
Myanmar and Malay Peninsula to Sumatra and Borneo.

Habitat
Forest and forest edges.
Behaviour
Usualy solitary or in pairs, frequenting the middle and lower storys. Forages mainly on dead wood. Not known to drum.
