Identification
Very similar to Malachite Kingfisher but differs by being rather duller orange beneath, slightly duller blue on the back, having green in the crest and having a bill that is largely dark.
Distribution
Madagascar and Comoro Islands.
Taxonomy
Two subspecies recognized:
- C. v. vintsioides in Madagascar
- C. v. johannae on the Comoro Islands
Sometimes considered conspecific with Malachite Kingfisher.
Habitat
Tropical mangrove forest.
