Identification
Distribution
Angola, Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania.
Taxonomy
This is one of the many Sunbirds that have recently been moved to the genus Cinnyris from the genus Nectarinia
Subspecies
Clements recognizes three subspecies[1].
- C. l. ludovicensis in the montane forests of west Angola
- C. l. whytei in northern Malawi (Nyika Plateau) and adjacent northeastern Zambia
- C. l. skye in east central Tanzania (Rubeho and Udzungwa Highlands)
Subspecies whytei and skye are split by IOC[2] as Whyte's Double-collared Sunbird (C. whytei).

Diet
Diet consists mainly of nectar, but takes some fruit and, especially when feeding young, insects and spiders.
