Identification

Green and yellow plumage, discs round the eyes.

Distribution

New Zealand, threatened by extinction. Now only on Chalky, Codfish, Pearl, and Little Barrier Islands.

The number of this species in the World is now 126. [Early 2012]

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Forest

Behaviour

Flightless and nocturnal.
Feeds on native plants.
