Overview

Isla Rasa, a small 57 hectare island in the Gulf of Mexico off Baja California, is one of the most important seabird colonies in North America.

The island holds almost the entire world populations of Heermann's Gull and Elegant Tern, and major colonies of Brown Pelican, Yellow-footed Gull and Royal Tern.
