Identification

14 cm
Male is not really Indigo but a paler blue color, while the female is mostly reddish brown. Notice shape and size of the dark bill.

Similar Species

Larger than an Indigo Bunting.

Distribution

South America: Found from northeast Argentina, Uruguay and eastern Paraguay to southern Brazil.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Two to four pale blue eggs are laid in a low twiggy nest.
