- Greyish pink or pale mauve head
- White eye-ring
- Whitish band at bill base
- Pinkish breast, underparts and neck
Distribution
South-east Asia, Oceania and Australasia: found on Papua New Guinea, Melanesia, Solomon Islands, Greater and Lesser Sundas.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 3 subspecies[1]:
- D. p. pickeringii:
- Sulu Archipelago and small islands off north and north-eastern Borneo
- D. p. langhornei:
- Sulu Islands (Bolod and Loran)
- D. p. palmasensis:
- Miangas and Talaud islands (off Sulawesi)
Habitat
Lowland forest.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet is not well recorded, but they are presumably frugivorous
