North-western South America: found in Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 4 subspecies^[1]

• M. u. duidae:

• Mountains of southern Venezuela (Duida, Yaví, Paraque and Sierra de Curupira)

• M. u. lunatipectus:

• Tepuis of southern Venezuela (Mount Guaiquinima)

• M. u. obscurus:

• Tepuis of south-eastern Venezuela (Ptari-tepui, Uei-tepui, Sororopán-tepui)

• M. u. ustulatus:

• Tepuis of south-eastern Venezuela, northern Brazil and western Guyana (Mount Twek-quay)
