Distribution

South America: found from extreme East Venezuela to the Guianas and Brazil

Taxonomy

Formerly placed in genus Myrmeciza by Gill and Donsker.

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies[1]:

  • M. f. ferrugineus:
  • M. f. elutus:
  • South-central Amazonian Brazil (lower River Tapajós to lower River Madeira)

A shy bird.
