South America: found in Ecuador and Peru.

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies[1]:

  • M. e. elegans:
  • Arid south-western Ecuador (north to Manabí and extreme southern Pichincha)
  • M. e. paucalensis:
  • Arid north-western Peru (southern to La Libertad)

Habitat

Dry forests.
