Northern Africa: found only in Egypt
Eastern Africa: Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia
Middle East: Israel, Jordan, Arabian Peninsula, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman

This is a polytypic species^[1] consisting of 4 subspecies.

Subspecies

• C. l. negevensis:

• Arava Valley (Israel-Jordan border)

• C. l. blanfordi :

• Red Sea coast of Egypt, north-eastern Sudan and Eritrea

• C. l. somaliensis:

• Djibouti and northern Somalia

• C. l. leucomelaena:

• Western Saudi Arabia to western Yemen and Oman

Habitat

Acacia desert savana.
