Africa
Western Africa: Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola
Eastern Africa: occurs only in Uganda

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 3 subspecies^[1]:

• M. m. nigrifrons:

• Sierra Leone to southern Nigeria

• M. m. malimbicus:

• Southern Cameroon lower Congo and northern Angola

• M. m. crassirostris:

• Zaire and Uganda

Habitat

Lowland moist forest.
